Tutorial: Upcycled romper - KCWC Day 6

Romper

For top of the romper you could use onesie, shirt or overall (chop to desired length ).
Make sure that they fit loosely
Mine has shoulder snap to take on and off.
If yours not, you may add zipper instead. A exposed zipper would be very cool
Or what about a snap band at crotch
Note: I forgot to topstich the pockets and must do it later

sew the shirt piece and pants together, sandwich pockets between them like this

after sewing and turning right side out

Sew cuffs for pant legs and sleeves like I did HERE
(Note: I forgot to cut the cuffs shorter than the pants legs so I inserted elastic in the cuffs to make them smaller. And I love that look)
Then add some buttons for decorating the flaps pockets and keeping it laying flat.
This one is made with the same concept, but no pocket flaps (sorry I didn´t iron it before taking pic)

Two shorts/bermudas-KCWC Day 5

The blue has faux cargo pockets or faux flap pockets (?)
The yellow one has stencil. How-to here
They were long pants but became too short for Ben.
So I cut leg pants off, used the leftover to make faux flap pockets.
See how-to pictures below if you interest.
Two shorts

sew and topstich

determine where the flaps would be

sew it upward

like this

flip it over, topstich you will have the faux flap pockets

Knee pad pants-KCWC Day 4

Ben crawls very fast from room to room. It seems that he doesn´t want to stand up and walk :)
So I sewed him a pair of pants with knee pad, inspired by Dana
repurposed from a daddy´s shirt that has contrast yoke and sleeves.
I made double-folded hem for pants legs so that it could be let down and last longer.
This pants fits Ben very well.

jeans skirt and a lil´ how-to - KCWC Day3

I used two leg pants to make this skirt
simple elastic waistband
two pockets at back
simple hand embroidery on front
raw hem with decorative stich
Jeans skirt KCWC Day 3
I want to show a trick
Here was the skirt before making casing for elastic waistband.
If I´d folded top edge as usually it´d be too thick because there´s two layers of felt-flat seams (?)

So I picked thread out and trimed a bit

Then folded the top edge over to make casing as usual.(Jeans thread would be better but I haven´t got :( )

Thank you, elastic thread - KCWC Day2

Because of you, Emmi got some new clothes.
Remember this tunic? I altered it once more time into this ruffled collar shirt with elastic waistband

It used to be a top of Emmi´s cousine, size XS.

Only two row of shirring on straps

My shirt that doesn´t fit anymore and I want to change my style also.
Maybe in the next days more repurposing clothes would be born

Two rows around the neck and sleeves

Cap sleeve top -KCWC Day1

I repurposed my top this time.
I love its apricot color but it fits me not well anymore.
I planned on making it a sleeve-less shirt, but then in the process decided to add a little cuff at the arms
by sewing stretchable lace around the armpit before sewed side seams.
Neckline binding was the armpit binding of the old top.
My lovely aunt sent me a big pack of doilys and many tiny flowers crocheted by herself.
It´s now time to use them.
Cap sleeve top

My lil´ model

Cut long sleeves off, be ready for summer

This shirt has two problems: the neck too small, so Emmi can´t get this shirt over her head.
And it has a long sleeves, not so comfortable for summer.
But it´s from Zara, and Emmi love pairing it with her yellow shorts.
So mama may alter it a bit.

Leftovers become binding for a larger neck

My favorite part: the new sleeves using the cuffs of old sleeves.

3-in-1

I made it for Emmi so I used the bottom of my shirt.
For bigger version, just need to sew two rectangles together
(width=your waistx2, length=length from armpit to over hip, or as desired)
I added some shirring lines at the top,
elastic in its hem,
sewed on thread loops at waist and around the shirred parts,
braided a belt from leftovers.
Not many steps I promise you.
It could be worn ...

...as a mini dress at the beach, swimming pool or on very hot days

...as skirt, or ballon skirt as long as your lil girl doesn´t run and play

...as a ballon top.
Halter top or top with tie straps as you want.
Be creative with help of thread loops

model-in-the-making! :-D
